What creative type are you?

Sometimes it’s good to pause from creative work and do a bit of fun introspection. Fun as in a “creative type” test. Essentially a Meyers-Briggs test to tell you what your creative essence is.

The 15-question Creative Type Test, developed by Adobe Create, assesses your habits and tendencies — how you think, how you act, how you see the world — to help you better understand who you are as a creator.

Warning: These personality types aren’t meant to be black-and-white labels. Like any personality test, it’s frustrating, because the questions don’t allow for any gray areas. Also, one core type might best describe you, but you may change types in different situations or at different points in your life, or even at different stages of the creative process.

And … most of us have a little bit of all eight types inside of ourselves. In fact, in some ways, the eight types all seem like variations of a theme rather than distinct types.

Here are the eight Creative Types:

  • The Artist: Brings ideas and concepts to life
  • The Thinker: Has intellectual curiosity and finds and creates meaning
  • The Adventurer: Has high levels of creative energy and a spirit of curiosity and play
  • The Maker: Focuses and is dedicated, and achieves mastery
