I think you’re right, Daniel. On some level, we have to believe — to assume that we’re at least we’re probably right — or we wouldn’t be able to act or put our voice in the world. I like Whitman’s words that I quoted: “I like the scientific spirit — the holding off, the being sure but not too sure, the willingness to surrender ideas when the evidence is against them …” It’s the “being sure but not too sure” that’s the position I like to try to navigate the world with.
